🤖ROBOTS🤖

Our students had an excellent time diving into the world of robotics!

Kana Sensei from @tryandthink_steam.ibl got us to think what really makes a robot? After exploring key robotics concepts, we even built our own!

Hope student & high school volunteer Shoma and Tiger @tksh_2024 showcased their claw machine and let students put it to the test!

CAMS 12th grader Fumi wowed everyone with his self-designed robot!

🎺 SOUL OF THE DEEP SOUTH 🎺

HOPE students took a journey through the Deep South, exploring how African American communities shaped the cultures of South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi! 🎶🎨

🌿 In SC, we learned about the Gullah people, their basket-weaving traditions, and tried raffia weaving ourselves.
 ✨ In GA, we celebrated Alma Thomas’ colorful art with suncatchers and honored the ‘Queen of Blues’ Ma Rainey by crafting harmonicas.
 🪧 In AL, we studied civil rights marches, recreated protest signs, and designed patchwork quilts inspired by the master quilters of Gee’s Bend. We also tried Milo’s Sweet Tea—so delicious!
 🚢 In MS, we practiced spelling its name (many times!) and explored the mighty Mississippi River by building DIY paddlewheelers.
 🎭 In LA, we learned about Ruby Bridges, Mardi Gras traditions (making bead necklaces), and played the Gumbo Game after discovering Chef Leah Chase—the real-life Princess Tiana!

From cornbread to culture, music to activism, we immersed ourselves in the beauty of the Deep South. Hopefully, we get to visit one day! 🌎✨
